Today we made some 3D shapes out of plasterscene and toothpicks.
First we drawed some 3D shapes then Mr Munslow our teacher gave us some plasterscene and toothpicks.
After that we stuck the plasterscene on to the toothpicks and made 3D shapes.
Here are some photos.

A letter of thanks to all the studnts in Room Five

Chech out this email I recieved from Mr Mackenzie and all the students in Room 13- You guys are really helping to make a difference with our Buddy class .What great role models and mentors.

Hi Mr Munslow and the students of Room 5,

After a great discussion with all our class (not just the children involved), we would love to say how much we really enjoy having you as our buddy class. The difference that your students have made to our students in buddy reading has been amazing. So amazing in fact that some of those children have grown in confidence so much that they no longer need the extra help. So a massive big thank you to all the buddy readers you have truly made a difference in those children’s’ reading skills. Not that we wish to stop this wonderful reading just that we only have 3 children needing help now not 6!!

We love sharing buddy time and just wanted to say thanks for all your continued help and fun times.

Here are some quotes

Sophia said “It was cool when my buddy used her thumb to help me sound out words I didn’t know”

Sophie said “ my buddy told me to miss out the word and read until the end of the line and then I might get it”

Flynn said “ my buddy covered bits of the start of the word then when I got that they covered the end and helped me sound out the whole word”

Jin said “mostly my buddy helped me figure out the words but I was able to figure them mostly out myself”

Liam said “ my buddy asked me questions about the story”

Well guys Thanks a heap and see you soon. 

Mr Mackenzie and all of room 13 students.

Buddy Class

Today we had buddy class come over to our class. We showed our fun boxes to them. We enjoy spending time with our buddy class. Arent they adorable.By the amazing, perfect, publishers Levi and Xanthe and the particlar proof reader Maddie

Whats going on?

Hind sight is a wonderful thing, looking it seems obvious that my dad shouldn’t have made my twentieth birthday a fairy party. It all started when I was seven. My dad asked me what type of party. I wanted a fairy party. I’m Venus Levine and I’m a pro stunts woman now. This is my story.
The wind was howling like a mad dog barking and the mist was so thick it looked like the house was lifting off. Inside it was my worst birthday ever, I had the chicken pox and I also conjunctivitis. The next couple days I wasn’t allowed to go to school or have a birthday party.
As the years went on and I got older and my mother wanted me more and more to be an accountant like her. I didn’t I wanted from the age of eleven, to be a stunt woman!
When I was waiting for the bus to go to stunt camp my mum really didn’t want me to go. If I knew having parents was going to be this hard I never would have done it.
On the bus ride over, I met an undercover super star called Jazzy. We got on perfectly. On the bus trip over the Hackett, we came up with words like haticmatenicephobia someone that looks scary in hats and frizzamowaphobia someone with a fear of frizzy hair. When we stopped we were the only people with a sense of being down a hill and there was something weird with the compass. There was no phone reception down in the valley or food in sight. Jazzy and I had to use all our stunt skills to get up the giant wall to the road.
Susie another girl on the bus found us some tents beside a group of giant trees.
It was like someone had trapped us here.

After a day in the forest we found out our stuff was still in the bus. After another 6 hours searching for food, Jazzy and I found a tree to climb. We got to the top, I kept telling myself not to look down. Have you ever looked down from something really high? It was five metres high and Jazzy was really scared. Tomorrow I had to get the whole group up the hill. After a night in the forest we cleaned up and hitchhiked home.
When my family heard they were sorry and my dad made my wish come true, my 20 birthday was a fairy party. That’s my story and I wish I had never made that wish in the first place. By Lucy Palmer

Journey Through Space by sid

1
One morning John Brown woke up with a headache and looked out of the window. ”It must be Tuesday” he said, because nothing ever goes right on Tuesdays.” He was right, this Tuesday he is going to have a lot more to worry about than just a headache…
2
He went downstairs and made some tea. After he had his breakfast he went outside and sat on the little bench in the park. John Brown was 42 years old, had black hair and a very sharp pencil. He opened the paper and saw there an oil spill in Australia! Something had cut a hole in an oil tanker so it leaked all the oil into the Great Barrier Reef and killed all the sea life! Reporters say it was a couple of teenagers on board, but the metal was said to be able to survive a trip through the vacuum of space and back as good as new. He put down the newspaper and walked home.
3
On the way he saw all the cats in London walk, as if hypnotised, to John’s friend Steve’s house! “What are all these cats doing?” John shouted above all the meowing “I don’t know? Steve shouted back, “maybe it’s because I have a 500 week supply of cat food!” “But you got that 501 weeks ago!” John shouted. There was a long pause. Then Steve’s dog, Rover came in and barked at all the cats but they didn’t even twitch! Then Rover picked on up in his mouth and crunched it to bits! Cogs and screws flew everywhere while Rover, in all the excitement ran into his kennel and never came back until dinnertime.
The next day John awoke to the sound of a high-pitched screech which turned into a crash. He got out of bed and opened the window to see a pile of rubble were the Big Ben used to be! He rushed downstairs to see a big pale-green blob under it! Suddenly he got knocked out and carried away.
4
When he woke up he was in pitch black and the floor was all slimy. “H-hello?” he stuttered nervously. “I-is anyone t-there?” The sound of water dripping sent a shiver down his spine. Suddenly a dark figure moved into the room causing John to jump. “Sllxpptleexiourspt?” it said. “Pardon?” said John. “(Cough) sorry, I thought you spoke xxpttle. Anyway I’m Lxpptle in human that’s Frederick. You can call me Fred. At the moment you are on my spaceship, in the dungeon, at the back of the ship” said Fred. He spoke in a sleepy way like Eddie Izzards’. When he moved his pale green skin wrinkled up like Grandad at the cup finals. Apart from that he was like a normal, bald human. “I’m-m John”
5
Fred turned the light on and walked into a room that looked like it was off the Starship Enterprise. “This is the control station” exclaimed Fred, “If it were to break… we would spiral down to the nearest planet and face almost certain death” As soon as he said this, a red light started flashing and an electronic voice came on and said “Control room damaged. Control room damaged. All systems shutting dowwwwn. Then all went quiet. “Uh-oh” whispered Fred. He looked at his GPS watch, “we will now be heading towards the planet Crent in the 7th galaxy of the 193rd universe” he said in an exhausted tone of voice.
6
Fred went to the corner and whacked his head on the wall. Suddenly the wall crumbled away and a year’s supply of clotted cream poured into the control room 3 seconds before it hit the surface of Crent. The clotted cream acted as a shock absorber and saved the 2 heroes from almost certain death. “Why did you have a year’s supply of clotted cream stashed away in the walls of your spaceship?” asked John. “Why do you have pink bats!” Fred said. They were lying down on a hard surface that looked like toffee and felt like rubber. “While we’re here can you tell me the whole story?” asked John.
7
“Well” started Fred “I was a happy person, living on this mothership with another 3,000,000,000 of my kind; we were planning to take over Earth. The oil tank was our fault; we wanted to distract the humans so we could steal their food with our electronic cats. Then they started following each other and we were found out. All of my kind went down to Earth to fight the humans but were crushed by Big Ben. I was left alone on the ship looking for company but no one, except you, were around.
8
“So you kidnapped me” said John” “not exactly” Fred grunted “I…borrowed you.” Suddenly they were knocked out and carried away. Again. It happened so quickly that they didn’t even notice. When they woke up they were loaded up in a huge cannon with a bomb strapped to them. The cannon was about 10 metres wide, 5 metres wide and smelt of rotten turnips. “Aaaaagh” John was having an intergalactic fit while Fred tried to disarm the bomb. “It’s an eternity bomb” Fred groaned, “It has over 15,000,000,000 possible ways to disarm it, but only one answer”. Then they heard a fizz and a boom as they were blown up into the sky … and down again! They landed, luckily on a king-sized mattress in a huge rubbish dump on the other side of the planet.”
9
“Now if only I could find a …” “what’s this?” John interrupted Fred holding a thing that looked like a knife’s handle with a lump of jelly coming out of the end. “Thank you!” Fred Shouted as he grabbed the thing and draped it over the bomb. It disintegrated in front of them while the bomb unstrapped from Fred! Now you are probably wondering what that thing is, it is a thindrog and it can untie anything no matter how tight it is. They hurried across the dump and made it out smelling of year old debris of a dead cow. Exhausted, they lay down beside a log just as the bomb blew up sending old nappies and bits of cardboard flying everywhere! John found a nice little cave to stay the night.
10
In the morning they awoke to the sound of gunfire and they were soon found out. “What are we going to do now?”John said to Fred as they were carried away to the prison of Crent by the guards of the prison of Crent. You can also say the cats of the guards of the prison of Crent or the kittens of the cats of the guards of the prison of Crent or the paws of the kittens of the cats of the guards of the prison of the prison of Crent or the pads of the paws of the kittens of the cats of the guards of the prison of Crent or the material of the pads of the paws of the kittens of the cats of the guards of the prison of Crent or the molecules of the material of the pads of the paws of the kittens of the cats of the guards of the prison of Crent or the atoms of the molecules of the material of the pads of the paws of the kittens of the cats of the guards of the prison of Crent or the protons of the atoms of the molecules of the material of the pads of the paws of the kittens of the cats of the guards of the prison of Crent or the quarks of the protons of the atoms of the molecules of the material of the pads of the paws of the kittens of the cats of the guards of the prison of Crent. In the prison the doors opened upwards and the benches broke if you put more than 20 KGs on them they broke.”Well” grumbled John “I’m thinking” answered Fred. After about 8 hours Fred shouted “I’ve got it!” “What?” asked John “we can use this method to get us out!” whispered Fred and they discussed the plan.
11
Later on they hid behind the door and shouted “guard! Guard!” the guard opened the door and they ran out! Pushing past the police, they made for the exit and just made it out! The next day they got picked up by the police and thrown into a rocket. “Why are we in a rocket?” John asked the captain. “You were to annoying” he growled back. Fred and John were grabbed by a large mechanical device and dropped, outside the ship, onto a planet that looked like mars and earth merged together (you wouldn’t know this planet because it is 100,000,000,000,000 miles away).
12
They landed with a thud, “WOOHOO!” shouted Fred at the top of his voice. “HOME!” “Wh-?” Stuttered John “I’ll explain” whispered Fred. He explained how he was a soldier on his planet and was commanded to conquer earth. Fred showed John around his village, introduced his family and even taught him how to speak xxpttle! “Do you ever want to go back to earth?” Asked Fred “no, you’re my best friend. Plus, no-one would believe my story!” said John and the whole family laughed!

Steyning - by Sid

STEYNING
Stenning was usual enough.
It had a café, a lonely road, a couple of houses and a post office.
It even had a delicious sweet shop.
My brother and I did what kids do,
Bought sweets at the sweet shop,
Relaxed after a long day of working,
Posted letters back home,
Planted plants in the allotment,
Doing nothing much.

Gentle Annie - Huw

Gentle Annie is usual enough, nice views, big waves, sandy beaches nice bed and a huge cabin to come back to in the evening. Me my friends and family do what friends do. Kayak, swim, make sand forts and at the end of the day we go fishing. In the evening we all sit round a big fire look across the sea doing nothing much. -Huw

Tanzania - by Amelia

Tanzania was a special place .
It had Landrovers , Ngorongoro Crater, kind safari tour guides and lots of wildlife roaming the big golden planes. It even had the biggest glowing sun I have ever seen. My sister and I do what kids do, walk around keeping our eye out for elephants , looking through the binoculars at the beautiful wildlife, laughing with the lovely people, wondering about what plant it could be and searching for different types of spices and fruits on the spice farm.
Having the time of my life!

Seaford
Seaford was special.
It had colourful shops, fun parks and a stony beach.
It even had an ice - cream van and a smooth sea.
My brother, sister and I did what kids do.
Eat jelly beans,
Play in the parks,
Painting beautiful pictures
Swimming in the sea and sewing.
Doing nothing much.

In our syndicate our topic is energy and in our class we are learning about matariki. we have been writing explanations on matariki. And as you already know we have made matatriki stars. Here is one of our class room explanation's.

title:ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MATARIKI
In the beggining of June seven stars rise in the eastern sky a couple of weeks later a new full moon appears! This is matariki.
In the olden days when the maori lived here they celebrated matariki this is because it is the maori new year.
This is a good time to fly kites ,do kupa huka and plant tree's. Another thing about matariki is in early June when you look up at the sky to see the seven stars they could be fading or really bright. is they are fading this means is going to be a bad year. if they are really bright you are going to have a good year. matariki is a good time to enjoy your self with your family, and this year in room 5 we celebrated by making seven stars and decorating them with all things about matariki.

The Challenge -by Josh

The big challenge
Have you ever had a weird dream before? Well hear this.
At the dinner table we were talking about our dreams. When it was my turn I said that when I was lying in bed when my door started to creak open. A little mouse crawled in and then it spoke to me it said “if your name is Josh Mead please come with me”. I whispered “no”. Then something magical happened. The mouse grew and grew; while he was growing he changed into a man, a scary man. He growled ”follow me NOW” so I jumped out of bed and asked how did you do that? but he just walked away so I followed and said where are going ? didn’t answer I felt scared. That moment the floor started to disappear. The floor got smaller and smaller. The floor was about a metre small. The unknown man yelled jump but I thought if I jump I wouldn’t know what will happen. But I just did, I didn’t know why.

Suddenly I was in a new world he said it was called Zenith and I stared. I looked around and then I looked back and the guy has vanished. I had a boomerang so I started to throw it and I accidentally killed a man ,then a voice said next round activate ,I realized this was a battle match so I was scared. But I was good so I got to the final round I felt like I was going to burst with butterflies. We chucked the boomerang at the same time and they smashed together. It was a box fight. Luckily I had a pencil in my bag, and it was sharp too. I chucked it super hard at him but he had a special trick he caught it with his teeth. It was creepy then he took it out of his teeth and then chucked it as fast as lightning. I got my bag in front of it, it went in the bag. I got the pencil and chucked it at him. But this time he fainted. Suddenly a king came down and awarded me a crown and then suddenly, RING, RING, RING I woke up and stopped the alarm clock.

THE END

The Worst Birthday in the World - by Izzy

Have you ever wondered what getting pushed into your own birthday cake feels like?
Well I can tell you one thing. It does not feel very nice.
I was walking home from school with my best friend Michal but he wouldn’t talk to me. He kind of sounded like he was giggling. I couldn’t help it.” ok now I’m starting to get a bit suspicious. What’s so funny?” I asked.” It’s just that your mum has organized a fairy party for you”. He giggled. I was shocked! I didn’t know what to say. I tried not to show how I was feeling but really I was as annoyed as a mad bull at mum.
When I got home I went straight to my room. Mum came up to see me. I told her that I was really annoyed that she made my birthday a fairy party. Then I asked who she had invited. I paused. Mum had invited the meanest girl in school. Victoria!! One time a
little boy was swinging on the monkey bars and for no reason she pulled on his feet and he fell and broke his leg. Oh and that time when she pushed that little girl face first into the mud. The little girl was so scared of her that she never came back to the school ever again.
The days slowly past and I got nervosa and nervosa as the fairy party got closer and closer. Finally the day came. Victoria arrived and I went down stairs in my little fairy costume. As I was going down stairs I caught a sight of my cake. Wow it was a triple cake. I went over to have a closer look. It was really spectacular. It was splat! Somebody had pushed me into my own cake. Wow it even tasted spectacular. It tasted as spectacular as my mums homemade jam. I slowly lifted my face to see who had done this. I knew it. I would know it even if I had been blind folded. It was Victoria! I ran outside to tell mum. Luckily she called the party off and went inside to get a wet and soapy cloth to wipe me down. Hopefully mum has learnt her lesson not to ever invite Victoria to my party again and especially to ask me to help her to organize my party!
Never ever never let your mum organize your party. Especially not on her own.

He lives on Rutherford Street Nelson in an old wooden cottage on the other side of the road from my house. I often here him shouting at his grandchildren. His age is 88 and by the way his cottage has peeling paint all over. -Huw
The old man is a dangerous old man. He would be yelling so much that it’s starting to crack the windows just because one kid did something wrong. He acts like he’s 100 years old! He’s stinky, he’s grumpy what else could there be?-Logan
A grumpy old man
A grumpy old man with a smelly body. A grumpy old man with wrinkly skin. A grumpy old man with rich old clothes with a yellow hat -Trey

His skin was stinky and wrinkly he was half bold with hair around his ears, but he stunk the place out.-Chantelle

The grumpy flabby wrinkly old man was very mad because his dog was barking very loud.-Gabe

A lonely child.

His thick caramel brown hair shining silkily against the warm sun. His skin the colour of fresh milk. A salty tear slipped down one of his pale cheeks and on to one of his black leather shoes. He clasped his hands tightly around his head. He looked up at me as if asking me for something. His eyes the size of saucers a deep emerald green. I will help you I whispered that’s what I’ll do. –Georgie

The child looked up at me with a cry for help. His skin as pale as newly layered white snow. His eyes sparkled with tears as they filled his eyes like a new bottle of sparkling water. A tear trickled down his soft pale skin onto his scabby foot. He lifted his head, his eyes a pretty sea blue. He looked so very desperate yet they were as big as a table. His clothes, well you could tell nobody loved him. He reached out to me with a sore well broken hand. As I touched his hand for a quick second I could feel his pain, cold and sore I was going to die, then it stopped and he vanished with me replacing him sad, scabby, alone, and tired now I’m the lonely child -Madison

The poor lonely child looked up at the dark gloomy grey sky as a large blue tear slowly dribbled down her rosy red cheek as the moon shined over her.-Izzy
The nasty boy stood with a disgusting grin (he doesn’t brush his teeth) while a nice tourist walked closer and closer then he put his silky , hairy and wrinkly leg out.-Josh
